Multiple Database Types

Post by Jack » Tue Mar 24, 2015 10:55 pm

First a little story about the framework Traq uses: Avalon.

Long story short: Avalon was created for Traq 3.0, Radium was a fork of Avalon for Traq 4.0, but has been merged back into Avalon.

Avalon 2.0 uses Doctrine for database related stuff, and Doctrine supports different database drivers, and the plan is to allow Traq to support different types.

Traq will always support MariaDB/MySQL while I also plan to have PostgreSQL support in 4.0.0.

Hello,

Nice move in my opinion. It would be great to be able to write our own drivers for other systems as well, so people would be able to support Oracle or MSSQL if they need to.

I believe Doctrine has drivers for Oracle and MSSQL, but I don't have them installed to be able to test them, or the time. I'm also going to try and have SQLite for 4.0.
